Sauna treatments for families with children will be accompanied by Luonnokas’ very own sauna elf, Verneri. He will tell children about the lives of the sauna elves and reveal believes concerning them.
The Voimala 1889 sauna in Oulu provides amazing and historic facilities to organize treatment and pampering moments for the family’s shared vacations, birthdays or as a surprise for the mother to be. Let us bring the baby shower custom from the U.S. into the center of Finnish folk traditions!
Family Sauna Memories for a shared sauna path - together with the family, grandparents and loved ones
Teeny tiny steps lead through the doors of the sauna chamber. Red valenki boots are left in the entry as feet slide into a pair of sauna slippers. The sauna is heated warm, gentle. A bucket full of sauna water for strength is left waiting by the side of the benches.
The very own sauna elf of Luonnokas, Verneri, invites you into the sauna! Pampering, gentle steams and shared sauna memories awaits the entire family. Children are provided with coloring tasks over at the sauna chamber as dad and mom get a moment to enjoy in the sauna.
Did you happen to know, that the steams used to be shared with the sauna elf after sauna bathing? Let us explore the story of the sauna elves through hearing about customs, spells and believes. We’ll also learn the art of gentle sauna whisking together with the children.
You can also come to the family sauna together with your family friends, grandparents or godparents. Suitable for celebrating the different occasions of each family member.

He’s carried the water and heated the sauna the nicest it’s ever been. Though many have claimed to know him, not that many have ever seen.
In honor of the birthday celebrations we have invited the very own sauna elf of Luonnokas, Verneri, to join your festivities. The sauna chamber will be decorated with balloons and congratulation pennants for coloring by Päivi Vesala. You can celebrate together with friends and family, grandparents and godparents are warmly welcome as well.
It has been a custom to share the gentle steams with Verneri. Let us explore the story of the sauna elves through hearing about these customs, spells and believes. Sauna treatments, such as face masks or foot baths, are provided for an additional price. Let us build a birthday party to look like the little one being celebrated!

Group size: max 10 children (1 adult / 5 children required on behalf of the customer)

The most important memories of many Finns are crystallized around the sauna, central events and biggest life changes. As the most sacred place of the home, the sauna was where the new baby was delivered. Therefore we invite you to celebrate your new family member in the gentle steams of the Luonnokas Baby Shower!
For the Baby Shower we’ll decorate the Luonnokas sauna chamber with balloons and BABY pennants for coloring by illustrator Päivi Vesala. It is custom to play quizzes together during baby showers and we will provide a baby themed quiz package based on the Finnish sauna culture for the event. What kind of believes were there on delivering babies and sauna bathing in the Finnish folk tradition?
